5k-Run for the Children

The Spring Festival 5k-Run for the Children was started in 2011, when the Spring Festival committee teamed up with a local family that was looking to adopt a child in Russia. The proceeds that were raised, went to their adoption fees and hopes for a child for a forever family. Each year the Spring Festival will host a 5k, where all proceeds will go to benefit a local children's organization, or a type of children's philanthropy. This year, all proceeds will go to John de la Howe School, a first-rate, child caring agency committed to meeting the behavioral, educational, and social needs of the children in its care.

Directions:
1. Start/Finish line will be at the intersection of N Main Street and W Pinckney St. 2. The first stretch, you will run up historical N Main Street and turn right on to Lee Street.. 3. From there, you will round the corner at Florence Street, turning right on Pineview St. 4. After you turn on Pineview St, you will quickly turn on Miller Avenue and proceed towards North Main Street. 5. Turn right on to North Main Street and then left on to Taylor Town Road. 6. Next, turn on to McGowan Ave. 7. McGowan will end, and runners will turn on to Haigler St Extd and a quick turn on to Hickory St, which will put them on to Ferry. 8. Once on Ferry St, runners will race up a steep hill to the finish line on N Main Street. |
